Fun fact Friday, Carrie Fisher edition.

Happy Friday! Can you believe we are at the end of yet another month? Somehow next week is March, I’m not even sure how that happened. Since it’s the last Friday of the month enjoy the celebrity edition of fun fact Friday.

She was born to famous parents.

Carrie Frances Fisher was born October 21st, 1956 to Debbie Reynolds – a Hollywood actress who was best-known for playing Kathy Selden in the 1952 classic Singin’ in the Rain – and Eddie Fisher, a singer, actor, and TV presenter. At just two years old her parents divorced, her father later went on to Marry Debbies best friend, Elizabeth Taylor.

Carrie best out some big names in the role of Princess Leia.

Actresses such as Sigourney Weaver, Farrah Fawcett, and Meryl Streep all auditioned for the role. While they’re all great, I’m happy it was Carrie who landed it. She brought something really special to the role.

A sought-after script doctor.

Carrie rewrote and edited scripts for films such as Sister Act, The Wedding Singer, and Lethal Weapon 3. She noted herself that she is good at writing female characters and love scenes.

There’s no underwear in space.

Carrie wasn’t allowed to wear a bra under her now iconic white dress. Why? Well according to George Lucas there’s no underwear in space. Instead, Carrie had to have her breasts taped down with gaffer tape. Ouch.

You’re a little short to play the Princess.

Due to their height difference, Carrie being 5’1” and Harrison a foot taller, she had to stand on a box in most of their scenes together.
